Hay Structure #1

Hay Structure #1 is an experiment with which I try to understand the basics of religious architecture. For this work I used straw as the main building material and a LED panel at the top to finish the work.
What I am fascinated about is, what makes people want to visit temples and churches and subjecate themselves to a deity. Is it the building that provides religion the credibility to proclaim salvation, eternality or reincarnation? Or is the building merely a medium for the formation of these belief structures?

Hay Structure was used by Hiba Masad in 2021, who did a performance inside the work with 4 Syrian refugees and talked about the meaning of a ‘Home’.
