Stairs I

The native population in Colombia lowered their door frame so that when a conquistador invaded their homes he'd have to lower his head before entering. This gave the owner of the house an advantage at the beginning of a possible conflict, but beside the tactical advantage it is also a way of demanding respect. Before you enter my house you bow your head.
During my residency in Witte Rook I researched the methods of spiritual spaces and wanted to recreate them. I had two options: lower the doorframe or raise the ground to make sure people would not fit through the door. Doing research about the methods of religious buildings I decided to copy the concept of temples and make stairs so not only people had to lift themselves off the ground but also had to bow their head before entering my space.
